Private Label Notebook Printing — Custom Manufacturing Under Your Brand

Private label notebook printing means the notebook is manufactured from your specification and carries only your brand. There is no reference product to relabel and no stock to draw down – the paper, ruling, binding, cover treatment, and packing are all set by the buyer, and the factory’s own name never appears on the shipment. At Longyin Druck these programmes are produced to order in our own Shenzhen factory, printing and binding since 2008.

What Is Private Label Notebook Printing?

It is custom manufacturing under another company’s brand: the buyer defines the notebook, the factory produces it, and the goods ship with the buyer’s logo, artwork, carton markings, and product codes. The distinction from stock sourcing is the starting point – a stock notebook is found and relabelled, while a private label notebook is built from paper up.

How Does Private Label Differ From Buying Ready-Made Notebooks?

The difference is where the specification comes from. With ready-made notebooks, the buyer accepts an existing trim, page count, ruling, and binding; with private label, every one of those is set to the buyer’s own requirement, including paper weight, ruling style, cover finishing, elastic band, ribbon, and page content. That freedom is what makes the product defensible in a retail range, and it is also why private label orders need a specification and a proof before production rather than a catalogue number.

What Brand Assets Do You Need From Us?

Production starts from files, and missing assets are the usual cause of delay. Buyers normally send a vector logo with the colour reference or foil grade, cover artwork with bleed, the ruling to be printed on the pages, any inner-page content such as planner grids or branded pages, and the product codes or barcodes that will appear on the packaging. Send one set of files per version and state which assets are restricted, since buyer-specific inner pages cannot be reused on another programme.

Can Several Markets or Languages Share One Production Run?

Yes, and it is the standard construction for private label ranges. Versions for different markets or languages share a single interior block and differ only on the cover, so the pages print in one pass while each cover version runs separately. The versions are separated at packing, not at binding, with cartons labelled by market, language, or barcode so no mixed pallets reach the customer. Programmes that start small and scale later usually begin with a first issue before committing to a range, and our oem notebook printing page covers that route.

Who Owns the Dies, Plates, and Artwork?

The buyer’s assets stay the buyer’s. Tooling made for a private label programme – foiling dies, embossing plates, and custom dies – is retained for that buyer’s repeat orders and is not reused for another client, and artwork is used only for the orders it was supplied for. A non-disclosure agreement can be signed before files are transferred, which is standard practice for ranges that have not launched yet. Private label packing means cartons carry the buyer’s markings rather than the factory’s.

How Is a Repeat Private Label Order Kept Consistent?

Repeat orders are matched, not re-invented. Paper and ink references are recorded against the approved proof, and a repeat run is printed to that signed reference on reserved stock, so a delivery six months later still reads as the same product on the shelf. Where a buyer needs several deliveries from one purchase, the whole quantity is printed in one pass and released in stages, because a second print pass introduces fresh paper and ink that will not match exactly.

How Long Does Production and Shipping Take?

Production runs about 5-7 days for saddle-stitched notebooks, 8-10 days for perfect-bound orders under 10,000 copies, and 15-18 days for sewn or hardcover editions, counted from file confirmation; the actual figure follows complexity and quantity. Shipping adds about 7-10 days by air, or about 15-20 days by sea to nearby regions, with longer transit for remote destinations. The wider range is listed in our notebook printing category.

What Should You Send for a Quote?

Send the size, sheets per notebook with the page count confirmed, page and cover stock, binding, logo process and artwork status, ruling and any inner-page content, the number of versions with their markets, quantity, packing and carton labeling, and destination. Stating which assets are buyer-specific and must not be reused protects the programme as much as the specification does, and helps us confirm confidentiality requirements at the same time. Quotes are issued within 24 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Do you supply stock notebooks we can relabel?

A: No, and that is the point of private label production. We manufacture to your specification and print your brand; there is no reference title and no stock to draw down. The trim, page count, ruling, paper, binding, and packing are all set by you.

Q: What files do you need to start?

A: A vector logo with its colour reference or foil grade, cover artwork with bleed, the ruling and any inner-page content, and the product codes or barcodes for the packaging. Send one set of files per version and mark which assets are buyer-specific.

Q: Can one order cover several languages or markets?

A: Yes. Versions share a single interior block and differ only on the cover, so the pages print in one pass while covers run separately. They are separated at packing and labelled by market, language, or barcode to prevent mixed pallets.

Q: Who owns the dies we pay for?

A: You do. Foiling dies, embossing plates, and custom dies made for a private label programme are retained for your repeat orders and are never reused for another client. Artwork is used only for the orders it was supplied for.

Q: How are repeat orders kept identical?

A: Paper and ink references are recorded against the signed reference proof, and repeats are printed to that reference on reserved stock. Where several deliveries are needed, the whole quantity is printed in one pass and released in stages.

Q: How long does production and delivery take?

A: Production is about 5-7 days for saddle-stitched notebooks, 8-10 days for perfect-bound orders under 10,000 copies, and 15-18 days for sewn or hardcover editions, counted from file confirmation. Air freight adds about 7-10 days, sea freight about 15-20 days.

Q: How about the payment terms?

A: Our terms are 40% deposit and 60% balance before shipping. Payment is accepted by wire transfer, PayPal, or Alibaba Assurance Order, and the accepted method is confirmed on the quotation.
